A Mother charged with murder after drowning her two 2-year-old twin sons in the bath at their Arizona family home

A mother has been charged with murder after she intentionally drowned her twin boys in the bathtub at their Arizona family home.
Mireya Alejandra Lopez, 22, was taken into custody after police were called to a property in the city of Avondale near Phoenix on Sunday morning.
The two-year-old children had been placed unconscious on a bed.

The mother was captured being escorted from the house in handcuffs. Police are yet to make any arrestsĀ

Avondale Police Department released a statement saying Lopez had confessed to deliberately drowning the two youngsters.
She is also believed to have tried to drown their younger brother, but was stopped by family members. He wasn't injured.
Reports suggest someone inside dragged them out after they were found submerged in the water. 
First responders tried to resuscitate the youngsters before they were taken to separate hospitals in a critical condition. 
The pair died a short time later. 
The mother was captured by 12 News being escorted from the house in handcuffs. 
Sergeant Brandon Busse insisted the investigation is ongoing.
