A Morally Depraved man who 'beat up kitten and injected it with heroin while high on drugs' sentenced

James Myers was alleged to have kicked the cat and given it the narcotic in an attack so horrific that vets nearly had to put the animal down.

But the adorable feline miraculously recovered after a local clinic gave him a drug used to treat human heroin overdoses.

Police found the cat with needles and hundreds of heroin baggies in Myers' car last year

The animal victim was bleeding from his face, missing teeth and had a rope round his neck.

Myers was said to have been high when he launched the brutal attack on the cat.

The cat, now named Mephisto, has been taken in by the vet who treated him in Pennsylvania, US.

Jennifer Magilton said: "He's the type of cat, when you come home at night, he runs to come and greet you."

Myers admitted animal cruelty, drug paraphernalia and drug possession but denied injecting the cat with heroin.

He has been ordered to spend two months under house arrest and complete 150 hours of community service.
