A Woman locked up over child murder allegations say 'she’s been through hell'

Th 37-year-old spent 28 months awaiting trial for the murder of a one-year-old child before charges were dropped

Allegations: Aisling McCarthy Brady was accused of murdering the one-year-old child, but was later cleared
The sister of nanny Aisling McCarthy Brady said she should never have been locked up for a crime she did not commit, and that she's been through hell.
Sharon Grehan has spoken of the nightmare her family has been going through, having seen Aisling languishing in a US prison for 28 months.
The nanny, 37, was awaiting trial for the murder of one-year-old Rehma Sabir in January 2013.
The prosecution alleged that Rehma died from injuries sustained by being shaken.
But two weeks ago the charges were sensationally dropped against the former childminder, who has now returned to her native Cavan with her husband Don and is attempting to move on from her ordeal, the Irish Mirror reports.
Sharon, who lives in Boston, said: “Aisling is doing amazingly well. Despite what she’s been through. I mean she’s been through hell. What happened to her was terrible. It should never have happened.
“But she’s enjoying her freedom. Enjoying the time with her husband. And family and just relaxing. Taking it all in. She needs her space but she is doing well. She’s a strong girl.”

Aisling also told RTE’s Prime Time about the toll her sister’s legal battle took on their family.
She said: “It was tremendously difficult. My brother Raymond is also here in Boson. And he shared the burden of the visits and Don also, Aisling’s husband.
“We had wonderful people help out with the visits. Going into that prison and seeing your sister in there was just terrible.
“The fact that you had to leave her there after a visit, knowing that she did nothing wrong. It was heartbreaking, absolutely heartbreaking. It’s heartbreaking to think she had to stay in there a day, a night, let alone two and a half years.
“A lot of people wrote to her. From here and home in Ireland. People were tremendous. The support was tremendous.
“There are a lot of facts that haven’t been reported on and the evidence here today is the same evidence that was there from day one.”
