A nine-year-old girl has died after being caught in the propellers of a boat while on a family holiday.
The girl was pulled from the water with serious head injuries but was pronounced dead a short time later.
Spanish police have launched an investigation into the incident, which took place at around 2.40pm this afternoon.
The girl's death happened in the picturesque resort of La Rapita in the south east of Majorca.
A lifeguard at the nearby La Repita yacht club battled to save the youngster and pulled her from the water before medics arrived.
Despite the efforts of paramedics the girl died a short time later.
La Rapita is a quiet resort on the holiday island which is popular with families and windsurfers.
